Wilkeson's Way Forward

For generations, Wilkeson has stood as a symbol of hard work, resilience, and community pride. One of Washington’s first major coal mining towns, Wilkeson helped fuel the expansion of the railroads and the growth of the region. Our sandstone built landmarks across the Pacific Northwest, and our timber resources supported extensive development and thriving industries.

Today, the historic coke ovens, the Wilkeson School, and the spirit of our handcar races remind us of who we are - a town proud of its roots, rich in history, and deeply connected to the land. As the gateway to Mount Rainier, Wilkeson has always welcomed those who seek strength, beauty, and a sense of belonging. Our vibrant local businesses, restaurants, and shops reflect the same spirit of resilience and community that has defined Wilkeson for generations.

Now, as we face new challenges, we have an opportunity to carry that spirit forward. With the closure of the Fairfax Bridge, Wilkeson stands at a crossroads. While we continue to advocate for restored access to the National Park beyond the Town of Wilkeson, we must also move boldly toward a future we can shape ourselves. This campaign is not just a response to adversity, it is an opportunity to invest in the strength and spirit of our community.

We have the rare chance to secure a vital piece of land (137.99 acres) just off Wilkeson’s historic downtown, that we can transform into trails, parks, and gathering spaces that will serve our town for generations. A place where families can grow, visitors can experience our small-town spirit, and residents can build new traditions rooted in Wilkeson's proud past. By joining us, you have the opportunity to honor Wilkeson’s legacy and help shape a future as enduring as the coal, stone, and spirit that built our town.

Together, we can make a lasting difference for generations to come. Let’s build the next chapter of Wilkeson together!

The Pacific Northwest is known for its lush forests, rainy days and stunning natural beauty. Home to most breathtaking scenery in the country, including the foothills of Mount Rainier. Mount Rainier provides a stunning backdrop for the region, and the surrounding forests and rivers offer endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Because this area is now essentially inaccessible, we hope to bring a some of this recreation to the Town. This fundraiser and land acquisition are setting the stage for a more resilient community, with more to offer our residents & guests.
